- What is the difference between MS cable tray and GI cable tray?
- MS (Mild Steel) refers to the base metal — IS 2062 structural steel. GI (Galvanized Iron) refers to the finish — a zinc coating on MS. In practice, all GI cable trays have an MS base. The distinction is used in Indian project specifications: 'MS cable tray' typically means uncoated or minimally coated steel, while 'GI cable tray' explicitly requires a zinc-galvanized finish. We manufacture both, along with powder-coated and HDG-finished MS cable trays.
- What load capacity is available for MS cable trays?
- MS cable tray load capacity depends on width, thickness and support span. Our 3 mm thick MS cable trays at 1.5 m support span provide up to 200 kg/m distributed load capacity for 600 mm width. For specific load requirements, we provide IEC 61537 tested load tables and engineering calculations with every project quotation.
- Can MS cable trays be painted instead of galvanized?
- Yes. For indoor environments where aesthetic finish is required, MS cable trays can be supplied with red oxide primer + enamel paint finish, or epoxy powder coating in any RAL colour. For damp or chemical environments, galvanizing (pre-galvanized or HDG) remains the most durable choice.
