Why Cable Tray Selection Matters for Offshore & Marine

Offshore oil platforms, shipbuilding yards, coastal installations and marine vessels present the most extreme corrosion environments for cable trays. Salt spray, seawater immersion, high humidity and hydrocarbon atmospheres combine to destroy ordinary steel cable trays rapidly. Bajiya Industrial Corporation supplies FRP (vinyl ester) and SS 316 cable trays rated for offshore and marine service, with ATEX zone compatibility.

Offshore cable tray failures are extremely costly to repair — crane access, production shutdowns and HSE risks make any maintenance intervention expensive. The right material selection upfront — FRP or SS 316 — is an investment that pays back within 2–3 years compared to steel trays that require replacement every 2–5 years in marine environments.

Key Engineering Challenges

  • 1Continuous salt spray and occasional seawater immersion
  • 2Explosive atmosphere zones (ATEX Zone 1 & 2) on platforms
  • 3Weight constraints on offshore modules (every kg counts)
  • 4Regulatory compliance — ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd's Register approvals
  • 5Remote site logistics for island and platform deliveries

Bajiya's Solutions for Offshore & Marine

Engineered to meet the exact requirements of your sector

1

FRP Vinyl Ester Cable Trays

Non-metallic, non-conductive, non-sparking. Completely corrosion-proof in marine environments. Lightweight (one-quarter the weight of steel). Fire retardant grades meet IEC 60332 and ABS/DNV requirements.

2

Stainless Steel SS 316 Cable Trays

Where metallic earthing continuity is required, SS 316 provides the highest corrosion resistance among metallic options. Molybdenum content resists chloride pitting in continuous salt spray environments.

3

Aluminium Alloy Cable Trays

For marine applications where non-magnetic, lightweight metallic trays are needed. Aluminium forms a natural oxide layer in seawater environments. Available in 6061/6063 alloy grades.

On-Demand Custom Sizes for Your Project

We manufacture cable trays in any width from 50 mm to 1200 mm, any thickness (1.2 mm – 3 mm), and any length — on demand. No standard catalogue restricts your design. Send us your BoQ or GA drawing and get a quote in 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions project engineers ask about cable trays for offshore & marine

Do you supply ABS or DNV approved cable trays for ships?

Yes. We supply cable trays with material test certificates and manufacturing process documentation that meet ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) and DNV GL requirements. Type approval documentation and flag state certificates can be arranged through approved third-party inspection agencies. Contact us with your specific classification society requirement.

What is the difference between polyester and vinyl ester FRP for marine cable trays?

Vinyl ester resin provides significantly better resistance to hydrolysis (water absorption) and chemical attack than standard polyester resin. In continuous seawater or salt-spray environments, vinyl ester FRP cable trays have a service life of 20+ years versus 8–12 years for polyester FRP. For all offshore and marine applications, we recommend vinyl ester FRP exclusively.

Can you supply FRP cable trays for ATEX Zone 1 offshore areas?

Yes. FRP cable trays are non-conductive and non-sparking, making them inherently suitable for ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive atmosphere areas on offshore platforms. Our FRP cable trays comply with IEC 60079-0 requirements for non-metallic equipment in explosive atmospheres. ATEX zone compatibility certificates are available.
